Sharanagati Yogahaus is the oldest dedicated residential yoga retreat in Varkala, Kerala, set on one acre of lush garden just minutes from the serene North Cliff and beach. Designed exclusively for retreats with no open classes or training, it cultivates a deeply restorative and focused yogic environment centered on Sivananda-style asana, pranayama, and Vipassana meditation. The daily rhythm supports clarity and belonging with quiet mornings and evenings focused on breath, stillness, and reflection. Guests stay in clean, private garden cottages with en-suite bathrooms and mosquito nets, enjoying nourishing Southern Indian vegetarian meals prepared daily. Limited to around 15 guests for intimate energy, the retreat feels like an extended family. With minimal use of phones and a tea house for connection, this quietly vibrant sanctuary supports deep detox, mindfulness, and reconnection with essential inner rhythm.

It has been established 13 years ago with the purpose of opening a residential yoga retreat and since then has been that only, never been used for any other purpose, you can feel the clear energy throughout the entire ashram property.
Sharanagati Yogahaus is ideally located in Thiruvambadi, the north end of the Varkala Cliff, only a few minutes away from the Arabian Sea. You will be delighted by the peaceful atmosphere and close location to beautiful beaches. The black beach is less than a 5-minute walk, Papanasam Beach less than 10 minutes walking distance. The Varkala Cliff, with its' restaurants (wifi) and shops, is easy to get to. It is a short rickshaw ride away from beautiful temples and towns where you can experience Indian culture. At times we take morning walks along the coastal path that goes north, passing fishing villages and quiet golden sandy beaches, for you to enjoy the beautiful and natural surroundings of the slow-paced life in Kerala.
