• Oil bath (Sarvangadhara): “Sarvanga” means whole body and “dhara” means flow of liquid. Lukewarm herbal oils are poured all over the body continuously in a special rhythmic way by two therapists. This treatment is effective for rheumatic diseases like arthritis and joint stiffness, paralysis, nervous weakness and nervous disorders, sexual weakness. It tones and rejuvenates the skin, promotes relaxation, increase vitality and body immunity, soothing and relaxing.
• Powder massage (Udvarthanam): Udvarthanam is known as “powder massage”. Herbal powders are applied to the body and rubbed in a rhythmic way. This treatment improves blood circulation and assists with detoxification. It is highly effective for obesity, hemiplegia and skin diseases.
• Herbal bolus (Pinda Sweda): “Pinda” means bolus and “Sweda” means fomentation or sudation therefore pinda sweda refers to the sudation performed by the bolus of medicinal herbs. Hot medicinal pudding tied up in cloth pouches being applied on to the whole body or part. It is effective for osteoarthritis, spondylosis, sports injuries and muscular atrophy.
• Steam (Swedana): “Swedana” means steam. This treatment uses hot towel steamed with medicinal herbs and wrap on the whole body. It is the process of elimination of toxins through the sweat with the help of steam or application of heat.
